About the Sessions
Music & Creative Arts - Ages 8-14. Prerequisite for this session is that the camper must already be enrolled in a Salvation Army Music & Creative Arts program at their local Salvation Army Corp.
Sports Camp - Programming is centered on sports and athletic activities. 2007 highlights included a visit from the Harlem Wizards. Through the use of humor and dazzling b-ball tricks campers were taught the basic fundamentals of Basketball and learned firsthand the importance of placing the development of their character as just as a priority as developing their God given talent.
Adventure Camp - Themes for activities and events spotlight nature, with hiking, and outdoor camping at our wilderness camp site. In past summers we had a wildlife presentation from Animal Alley Ministries and the Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary. Most activities will be outdoors including swimming, canoeing, rock climbing, hiking to Torne mountain, nature walks and more.
Corps Program Camp - Ages are 6-14. In previous years, the prerequisite for this session was that a child must already be enrolled in a Salvation Army Sunbeam, Girl Guards, or Boys Adventure program at their local Salvation Army Corp. To introduce these programs to children who are not involved in The Salvation Army, we have opened this session up to the community. Everyone is now eligible to apply. To learn more information about these programs you may contact The Salvation Army Greater New York Christian Education Director, Captain Lydia Mercado (212) 337-7255 or your local Salvation Army Corp.
