Program Goals

True Hope

  • To teach campers about God and the Christian way of living.
  • To provide opportunities for campers to make a personal decision to follow Christ.
  • To promote social and interpersonal behaviors in camp.
  • To provide opportunities for campers to engage in various activities, different from those available at home or school, designed to broden their understanding of the world around them.
  • To provide an environment where campers have opportunities for growing, learning and having fun.

Dynamic Events

While at camp, your child will participate in a wide variety of fun activities supervised by trained staff ( to see pre-camp training topics required by the American Camping Association click here). Daytime activities include archery (for older campers), ropes course, crafts, fishing, boating, swimming, hiking and sports. Evening programs include both small and large group events.

Keep in mind that camp is an active place, with a lot of walking, running, climbing and physical activity. Please do not register your child for camp if he/she cannot participate in these types of activities.

Biblical Salvation

Star Lake Camp is operated by The Salvation Army. The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church.

Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Therefore, children attend religious instruction each day (devotions), have prayer before all meals, and attend worshp services each Sunday. Opportunities to accept Christ will be given.
