The movie I can watch over and over... The Sound of Music. My girls (ages 7 & 5) have just discovered it and now the songs are fresh and new to me.

My favorite scripture verse is... 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 "We might have trouble on every side yet we're not distressed, we might be perplexed but never despair, persecuted but not forsaken, cast down but not destroyed."

I love to eat... Popcorn - by the bucket full. My husband has a special seasoning that he uses when he pops it on the stove. It tastes great.

MP3's or CD's? I do have a few CD's (like 50)but really I'm lucky I can still play cassette tapes in my car. I have made so many "jams" tapes in my day.

Nets or Knicks? Although I live in Philly now I'd have to say I was a Knicks fan most of my life.

Latest book read?  "The Power of Simple Prayer" (by author Joyce Meyer)

Interview

SLYC.org: So where are you now? Married? Kids? What's been going on?

Marci: I have been married for 8 years and we've been living in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia for the last two years. The only thing missing from Philly is my family. I really like it here.

SLYC.org: I always have known you to be a very gifted singer, are you still singing?

Marci: Yes, I am still singing. I don't know how NOT to sing! I was blessed to see much of the world singing with the 60's sensation group "The Crystals" (of "Da Doo Ron Ron" and "He's A Rebel" fame) for almost 10 years and took a hiatus to start my family.  I am also a member of the "Eddie Davis Orchestra" singing at receptions, corporate parties and other events. The Lord is not done with me yet. Most recently I have been singing with my female gospel vocal trio, "Okera" (it is a Swahili word which means "likeness to God").

SLYC.org: What were some of the positions that you worked at camp?

Marci: I started out as a Dining Assistant ($54.17 every two weeks!), Relief Counselor, Dining Supervisor and finally Staff Activities Director. Then I spent a number of years working as a music instructor for Divisional Music Camp, Divisional Conservatory and Territorial Music Camp.

SLYC.org: Looking back at the years you worked at camp what did the Lord teach you?

Marci: I had been a camper most of my life before I started working at Star Lake. I have always had mad respect for God's awesome outdoors. I have been fortunate to have met people from every walk of life; from countries all over the world. God has taught me to accept people as they are. He showed me how to look past their differences to see that we are all the same in our need to be loved. I have learned to love despite anger and to hold on through disappointment. You remember those sessions when it seemed that the rain would never end? it was then that the Holy Spirit encouraged me to get up out of bed and be the "Sunbeam" that He knew I could be; and that I didn't have to do it all by myself. When I was a waitress (Dining Room Assitant; currently The Konudit program) I learned that cleanliness IS next to godliness.

SLYC.org: Any words of wisdom you would like to share with us?

Marci: "Seek first His Kingdom and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:33.

That's all for this edition, special thank you goes out to Marcella Matthews for taking time out of her schedule to be interviewed. See ya next time! Proverbs 3:5-6 ¶
