People usually have an idea when their going to be engaged. When it came to Joel and I (Jazmin) we didn't know it was going to happen. If anything Joel was planning to propose on New Years day during the family gathering. But I guess it was something about Chapel that morning. The message was about trusting in God, walking in faith, asking God to bless us and to expand our influence. It was also about allowing God to be at work and not us trying to do everything on our own. After the message a young man came up on stage and he was talking about how the season is now and that God has it already for you, one just needs to reach out and get it. That was Joel's signal and he knew that it was the right time to propose. I didn't go to Chapel that morning, so I had no idea that something that outstanding and amazing was going to happen to me. His cousin, Leon and brother, Oz helped Joel set up and made it into a big celebration in the Nyack College cafeteria. Joel proposed where he first introduced himself to me. What a lovely and unforgettable blessing.

On September 4th Jamie "High Five Friday" Carriere and Keith Becker were engaged. "We actually met at Star Lake about 8 years ago, now we're engaged to be married on February 21, 2009, Funny how things work out. They always say you meet your spouse at camp!" Jamie (r), Star Lake Alumni worked at camp from 1999-2003 and 2005.
